KEY ISSUES
NOTE!
The Voivode may refuse to grant another residence
card if the foreigner has not completed a year of
studies within a specified period of time. If a foreigner
is removed from the list of students, the University shall
immediately notify the Voivode who issued the residence
card about such fact in writing. After graduation,
a graduate of a Polish university can apply for permission
to stay in Poland for one year and seek employment.
Superintendent of Education’s decision
After arrival to Poland you will need to submit all the required documents that are necessary for
the Superintendent of Education to issue a decision on the entitlement to apply for admission
to a first cycle studies in Poland. This procedure is obligatory. You will need to submit this decision
to our University until the end of the first semester or by the date specified in the candidate’s
declaration. We advise you to prepare the required by the state authority in Katowice document, an
additional document – Eligibility Letter issued by your school or the Ministry of Education in your
home country and legalise your school certificate before your arrival to Poland. Foreign school
certificates or documents may be recognized in Poland only if they are recognized by the state
within the territory of which or in the education system of which such a school operates.
Please note also, that we are happy to advise and assist you in the procedure but KBU does
not take any responsibility for the decision of the Superintendent of Education, as this is the state’s
independent body. The KBU acceptance for study is based on your declaration that your certificate
entitles you to take up studies in your home country and it is your responsibility to prepare the
additional documents required in the procedure of recognition by the Superintendent of Education. If
case of failure is obtaining the decision, continuation of studies will not be possible and you will be
removed from the KBU Student Register.
