THE DEVELOPMENT OF TELEMATICS IN THE CONTEXT OF
THE CONCEPTS OF „INDUSTRY 4.0” AND „LOGISTICS 4.0”

The modern world and the global economy undergo numerous rapid transformations, whose main
driving force is the development of new technologies. New, prospective concepts of functioning of
industry and logistics are developed, such as „Industry 4.0” and „Logistics 4.0”. In this context it is
worth considering the place of telematics in achieving the objectives of these concepts. Without the
comprehensive implementation of telematics considerations, the projected increase in robotics, real-
time data exchange and automation of many processes seem impossible. Therefore, a question arises
not only about the role and importance of telematics in the practical implementation of these concepts,
but also about the scope and areas of implantation of telematics solutions. It appears also reasonable to
ask about the new possibilities and functionalities which telematics solutions could generate in order
to fully secure the pragmatic implementation of the latest concepts. The article attempts to identify and
comprehensively approach the factors determining the emergence of such solutions. The objective of the
study is also to indicate trends and directions of changes in the implementation of the latest telematics
solutions on the example of selected companies in Lower Silesia.

ROZWÓJ TELEMATYKI W KONTEKŚCIE KONCEPCJI
„INDUSTRY 4.0” I „LOGISTYKA 4.0”

Współczesny świat, globalna gospodarka ulega wielu, często bardzo szybkim, przeobrażeniom, których
zasadniczym motorem napędowym jest rozwój nowych technologii. Powstają nowe, perspektywiczne kon-
cepcje funkcjonowania przemysłu jak i logistyki, takie jak: „Industry 4.0” i „Logistyka 4.0”. Warto w tym
kontekście zastanowić się nad miejscem telematyki w realizacji założeń tych koncepcji. Zakładany wzrost
robotyzacji, wymiana danych w czasie rzeczywistym i automatyzacja wielu procesów bez szerokiego
wdrożenia rozważań telematycznych wydaje się niemożliwa. Powstaje zatem pytanie nie tylko o rolę
i znaczenie telematyki w praktycznym wdrożeniu tych koncepcji, ale również o zakres i obszary im-
plementacji rozwiązań telematycznych. Zasadnym wydaje się też pytanie dotyczące nowych możliwości
i funkcjonalności jakie powinny generować perspektywiczne rozwiązania telematyczne, aby w pełni
zabezpieczyć pragmatyczną realizację tych najnowszych koncepcji. W artykule podjęto próbę identyfi ka-
cji oraz holistycznego ujęcia czynników determinujących pojawienie się takich rozwiązań. Celem opra-
cowania jest również wskazanie tendencji i kierunków zmian w wdrożeniach najnowszych rozwiązań
telematycznych na przykładzie wybranych fi rm Dolnego Śląska.
