About Visegrad impact of the conference

The issue of property confiscation and its possible restitution is important for all countries belonging to the Visegrad region, but holds a special significance for Poland, which has yet to enact a comprehensive national restitution law. In so doing, Poland can learn from its neighbours. For example the Czech Republic managed to carry out a reprivatisation. It was pointed out however that both the Czech and Slovak restitution systems suffer from a number of shortcomings. Reprivatisation is also a very serious issue in Hungary, where numerous arguments are being raised against it. There is a need to prepare recommendations to lawmakers on the basis of experiences of the Visegrad countries, which share similar legal systems and historical experiences. These regional challenges and problems can be jointly tackled by this project.
